Safety Cover

We provide safety cover when you are windsurfing or sailing from Hove Lagoon. A trained member of our team will be on the beach, with a powerboat, basic safety equipment and VHF radio. They will be keeping an eye on members, whilst providing free coaching and assistance to club members.

At Brighton Marina all boats are provided with a VHF radio and our base is staffed with powerboats on hand.

The intermediate windsurfer

Let us say you are a windsurfer of intermediate ability that has not been on the sea yet.

This may be your summer :

Hire of windsurf on the Lagoon twice a month in summer - Non members cost £490
Attend 6 members training clinics to learn to sail on the sea - Non members £360
Windsurf on the sea once a month from May to October - Non members £510
On one of those occasions require rescuing - Price less!
Break a mast when launching on the sea - Non members £200
Have a go on a Zap Cat - Non members £95
Bring 2 friends down on a calm day to go for a paddle on a surf ski - Non members £30
Try water skiing - Non members £50
Have a go at surfing - Non members £30
Go Stand Up Paddle Boarding 4 times - Non members £80

For a non members this would cost £1845.

As a member this would cost you £540, (plus £25 joining fee, £60 damage waiver)

Don't forget as a member you can hire the equipment on the Lagoon and the sea as much as you like.

The dinghy sailor

Let us say you are a sailor of intermediate ability that likes to dinghy sail on the sea. You would like to improve your sailing and are not too bothered about sailing on Hove Lagoon

Hire dinghies twice a month during the summer - Non members cost £1190
Attend 6 members training clinics to learn to sail on the sea - Non members £360
On a rough day take a dinghy out on Hove Lagoon with friends - Non members £35
On one of those occasions require rescuing - Price less!
Tear a sail that needs major repair - Non members £200
Bring a guest down for a sail on the sea from the Marina 4 times - Non members £340
Bring 2 friends down on a calm day go for a paddle on a surf ski - Non members £30
Go on a members evening yacht sail - Non members £95
Try water skiing - Non members £50

For a non member this would cost £2300.

As a member this would cost you £540, (plus £25 joining fee, £60 damage waiver)

The Family

Let us say you are a family of 2 adults and 2 kids. The kids have done some courses and like to windsurf and sail on the sea. One adult does not sail but fancies kayaking, the other adult is an intermediate windsurfer.

Kids come to Onboard kids club 10 times - Non members cost £480
Kids hire equipment on 10 occasions - £700
Kids drop a windsurf board and damage it requiring professional repair - £200
One adult attends 6 members training clinics to learn to sail on the sea - Non members £360
One adult Windsurf on the sea once a month from May to October- Non members £510
On one of those occasions require rescuing - Price less!
Bring a guest down for a play on kayaks and paddle boards 4 times - Non members £120
One adult goes out for a paddle on a kayak whilst kids sail 5 times - Non members £75
Go on a members evening yacht sail - Non members £95
Try water skiing - Non members £50

As non members this would cost £2810.

As a member this would cost you £640, (plus £25 joining fee, £60 damage waiver, plus £60 per child)

Advanced windsurfer

Let us say you are an advanced windsurfer that only goes on the sea

This may be your summer :

Hire high quality windsurfing equipment on the sea twice a month - Non members cost £1190
Break a skinny mast - Non members cost £200
Damage one sail and it need repair - £75
On one of those occasions require rescuing due to equipment damage - Price less!
Have a go on a Zap Cat - Non members £95
Try water skiing - Non members £50
Have a go at surfing - Non members £30
Go Stand Up Paddle Boarding 4 times - Non members £80

For a non members this would cost £1720.

As a member this would cost you £540, (plus £25 joining fee, £60 damage waiver)

Fantastic Value

Equipment is a crucial part of your windsurfing or sailing experience. We ensure that our wide range of equipment is well maintained and up to date - offering some of the best equipment available.

An intermediate windsurfer is likely to need

2 boards
3 sails,
a harness
wetsuit

All this brought new will cost almost £4500. Lagoon members can choose from over 50 boards and 80 sails. We are the countries N0.1 North and Fanatic test centre. We get brand new equipment every year.

A basic dinghy such as a Laser Pico costs £2,450.
The Laser Stratos dinghies cost £10,500.
Our Beneteau Sports boat in Brighton Marina costs in the region of £30,000.

If you own a boat you will also incur mooring fees, maintenance and running costs.

It’s not hard to see that Lagoon membership at £480 is fantastic value and provides a hassle free way of sailing out of Brighton Marina and Hove Lagoon.

The Kids

Let us say you are a 10 year old child that has done some sailing courses and will sail on the Lagoon only.

Kids come to Onboard kids club 10 times - Non members cost £100
Kids hire equipment on 10 occasions - £350
Kids crash boat into the side requiring professional repair - £200
Bring guest down for a play on kayaks and paddle boards 4 times - Non members £120

For a non member this would cost £1720.

As a member this would cost you £250

Don't forget as a member you can hire the equipment on the Lagoon and the sea as much as you like.

Another option would be a 10 hour hire card. This can be used for any hire on the lagoon only.

Teenage windsurfer or sailor

Let us say you are age 13 and are either a keen windsurfer looking to go on the sea, or a keen sailor looking to sail on the Lagoon and the sea.
