I'm Zapcat Power Boating And I'm Awesome!!!

I waited over a year to cash in my Red Letter Day birthday present for Zapcat Powerboating, and boy was it worth the wait! I'm not normally one for watersports, but this was absolutely exhilarating! Fast-paced and action-packed! The Zapcat is a rapid, highly maneouvrable sea craft. You do need to hold on tight and it is actually quite physical as you use muscles in your body to ride the waves and remain in the craft. The sea was calm enough for us to have a go at driving the Zapcat and I relished this, as it enabled me to exercise my competitive spirit with a time trial to finish the day! The guides were very friendly and helpful. A full safety briefing was given and if at any time you felt uncomfortable or needed a break. All in all, a great day out! One I will never forget and something I will definitely do again in the future!

Insanely Fun

I wasn't quite prepared for just how much physical excursion was involved in this, and I'd be lying if I said my legs didn't ache today. I'd also be lying if I said that it wasn't worth it. I had enough fun just being on the main boat in between Zapcat sessions. Even that moves at a good speed and if you don't listen to the instructions then you could do yourself out of children in the future (assuming you're a man). The Zapcat itself was fun, fast-paced and exhilarating. Being given the opportunity to be in control of it was especially interesting and the time-trial lap was astounding. The whole experience was fun, friendly, and most importantly, fast. It was a day worth having.

The Most Thrilling Day On Water

Gaye W, 21 Aug 2010

I had the most exhilirating day. Everything was perfect, from the weather, to the excitement to the Drivers & Instructors. Everyone was able to have as many turns on the Zapcat in the time allowed. Even the RIB boat was fun & the Driver kept us entertained with speeding through the water whilst we were waiting our turn on the Zapcat. This is the best thrill I have had on water, ever. Thanks Guys

Great Fun

All I can say is hang on tight! Great fun and the guys there really look after you. Had a great time and good facilities afterwards to wash and change and a hairdryer girls! Wear waterproof mascara as you will get a face full of sea water several times!

Great Watersport For Petrol Heads

Mark H, 13 Jun 2010

Brighton Marina is a terrific venue and we had the added advantage of great weather too. The staff were open, friendly and knew their stuff. Ed gave us a real taste of Zapcat speed while the RIB churned enough surf to get us airborne. Then it was on to the helm for all of us. I'm used to dinghies and club rescue boats but these little beauties really move and turn on a sixpence. Don't go if you want to stay dry!

Simply Exhilarating

If You Love Speed And Water Then This Is For You

Kelvin P, 19 Sep 2009

The sheer speed and ability of these boats is awesome. I have never turned direction on water so fast. I've been on experiences before but this was brilliant - I must do this again or even buy my own boat!! It was that good... if you get the opportunity then you must do it. The chance to drive and feel the power and agility was out of this world. If you can't get it as a present then buy it for yourself!!

Terrific Day Out!

Nick H, 05 Sep 2009

Good weather, reasonably high seas and the real adrenalin rush of wedging yourself in a ZapCat and then hanging on as the driver performs numerous twists and turns across, over, under and often above the waves! Loved the 'air time' as it was termed, and loved the 'long and flat' too. Even being in the accompanying safety boat was a buzz, that could really come down the other side of a big wave with a thud! Thoroughly enjoyable, if you are thinking of doing this, and are in good shape, DO IT!

Exhilarating - Hold On For Dear Life - Amazing

Robert Y, 09 Aug 2009

The zapcat drivers were calm and professional and in the briefing they made it clear we could get a dunking if we did not hold on - and they were right. The G forces were huge and the bumps were - well - quite frightening! However we were encouraged to pilot the zapcat at full throttle round the tightest bends round the timed course and it worked. A great confidence builder and although I say so myself a pretty fast time for a 65 year old!

Awesome, Theme Parks Don't Even Come Close To This

One For The True Speed Junkie

Kathryn H, 08 Aug 2009

The instructors were great, explaining everything from how not to fall out to how to drive and race to get the fastest speeds. It was a lot more physical than I expected - the guys really show you what the boats can do before you get the chance to drive (if the water's calm enough) so you really need to hold on :) - and if (or more likely... when) I go again, I'd definitely be taking goggles to stop getting so much salt water in my eyes! Overall it was an amazing experience, I felt safe with the team throughout and really felt they knew exactly what they were doing, so I was free to just have fun and enjoy the speed, jumps through the wake of the support boat, the driving experience and even the soaking from the seaspray!

Brings New Meaning To The Word Extreme!

James T, 26 Jul 2009

I had never heard of Zap or Thunder Cats before this experience and I have to say it is something I will not be forgetting any time soon. The speed, power and sheer insanity of the Cats made it one of the most memorable times I have had on the high seas.

Highly exciting, adrenaline filled activity. The zapcat is a must for speed fans. Rushing across the waves and becoming airborne is a fantastic feeling. I was looked after every step of the way by the professional staff. Wonderful present, fantastic and memorable experience.

What An Awesome Experience!!!!!

David E, 27 Jun 2009

The staff were fantastic, helpful and informative. After changing into the full wet suits (which made me look slimmer than usual) we had a good safety briefing and then it was on to the support boat and out of the marina ... wow what a piece of kit the support boat was - top speed of 50 knots and it was jaw dropping ... then two by two we transfered to the Zapcats and I have never experienced such acceleration and G forces on such a small craft - the turns, the jumps and the pure speed (topping out at 35 knots and 3 inches from the sea surface). I can only recommend this to anyone and everyone who loves the sense of speed and the thrill of a real adrenaline rush. My best day out for ages and I will, without a doubt, be back!

Exhilarating Fun!

Right from the start, all the necessary info was included in the confirmation letter. The reception was warm, friendly and relaxed. Staff were courteous, which also made me feel more than welcome. The training was short, yet precise and thorough. The rides themselves were exhilarating, fun, and gave me a good indication of how unfit I really was (will have to do something about this!) The zapcat skippers were very professional and always concerned for the crew's wellbeing, which was comforting. I will certainly recommend a day out on the zapcat to my friends and colleagues. Thank you ever so much for a superb day!

Don't know if my sides are aching so much due to none stop laughing or trying desperately to hold on! Wasn't sure what to expect but had a fantastic time from start to finish. Would recommend this to anyone with a sense of adventure.

Our two day windsurfing course was excellent. We didn't just learn how to get on the board and start surfing, but also how to choose which board and sail suited us, how to carry them both safely in high wind, and how to assemble the whole kit and get ourselves onto the water. We even had a fun, easy physics... more

I really can't rave too highly about the staff at this professional watersports centre. Always happy to help, friendly and knowledgeable. I have my own kit but know plenty of other members make use of the wide range of ready rigged boards and sails. Not just for beginners, this club has plenty of more advanced sailors, with slightly less demanding... more

Let's keep this short and sweet: This is professional outfit - no time wasting, got good explanations and advice. People are friendly and make you feel welcome. Bring towel, non-slipping shoes (which will get wet), swim suit/shorts, sunscreen and if you have - lycra rash vest for under the wetsuit. Once finished - head east and have ice cream at... more

I learned to windsurf when much, much younger but I've not been back since. This year, I decided to restart, after a break of twiddly-umpteen years; I chose Hove Lagoon to learn at as they had a range of courses available, starting at the very basic (which was what I needed!) and from early on in the season. For about £45 you can get yourself a two hour lesson in a number of great water sports, the favourites being sailing, yachting and windsurfing.

Provided by an expert instructor, you get a great chance to enjoy one of these exhilarating sports under supervision. When I came here to do windsurfing I had a great time, improving massively in a short space of time thanks to my instructor Tim.

They regularly introduce new sports like paddle boarding, so this is a great place to come if you want to find a new thrill.

This should probably be called Portsalde Lagoon, as that's where it actually is, never mind.
They have a large shallow lagoon for windsurfing and sailing. I did a windsurfing course here and it's a nice, friendly place to learn with committed staff who really want you to share their passion for watersports. It's a good place to learn as it's shallow and flat, unlike the sea.....although they will take you out to the big ol' English Channel when you're good enough. There is a lovely cosy little wooden clubhouse too, where you can buy hot coffees and snacks to warm yourself up after a hard few hours on the water.
At one side there is a mini lagoon which is used for remote control boats - it's quite fun to watch these lilttle craft zipping about on the water.
