A private 1:1 lesson with a qualified RYA instructor can offer you an intensive way of learning a new sport or mastering new skills to enhance your windsurfing. Classes are suitable for all abilities from complete beginners to improvers. Included in the price is one hour of tuition followed by an hour of windsurf hire, so you can practice you new found skills!

Take the next step and improve your windsurfing with private 1 : 1 tuition to prepare you to go on the sea. The program is tailor made to suit your requirements however it usually includes harnenss technique, beach starting, improved stance and power control and better turning.

Windsurf planing skills - be ready for the windy season

Learn the skills required to get planing in the footstraps and stay in control. With Private tuition and our planing windsurf simulator we can help you fast track your skills. Training can take place in any wind conditions , if conditions are suitable we will get you out on the sea.

Lagoon Hosts BSA windsurf race event

Of the three categories (Pro, amateurs and master blasters) the master blasters completed 10 races, the amateurs 14 and the Pro’s completed 15 rounds, with all very close racing at the top in all classes.

The first day’s racing for the Pro fleet consisted of 6 rounds; reigning BSA champion Mat Pearch was joint first with Simon Cofield, where both had gained some 1st and 2nd places with a few mistakes along the way.

Sunday morning, the tension was high and the scene was set for a great days racing for the over all event win. Again, both Mat and Simon gained some 1^st’ and 2^nd’places with a few mistakes helped along by some weed issues in the afternoon.

Weed issues aside, with some good speed and a string of 2^nd places on the Sunday, James Dinsmore took 3^rd place, with Simon Cofield coming in 2^nd and Mat Pearch, for the 3^rd time this year taking first place.

The amateurs did really well to sail and complete 14 races, as the conditions were fairly tricky and the water choppy, but we had some nice swell and a pretty big 3-buoy downwind slalom course.

Steve Jones and Michael George had a close and continuous battle throughout until eventual winner Steve Jones came out on top by one point, which puts him in a good leading position to win the combined Hove and Worthing (end of August) event prize, a year’s subscription to Hove Lagoon.

The master blasters! These guys took control by starting the event off with the first race after the sea breeze kicked in at lunchtime.

After the usual ‘Le Mans’ style beach start, the guys headed out around the 1^stbuoy and back to the beach with a short run back to the flag. This race is aimed at the first time racer or intermediate who is unsure what level to compete at. After deciding on how confident they are, they can either carry on with this more easy and relaxed style of racing or move on up to the amateurs’ level, which races on the normal course, which is a little more out to sea with a few extra marks. The races took place on the hour, every hour for 5 hours each day. The eventual winner was young Jack Trollope, who managed to fend off stiff competition, both local and national to win all races. This now puts him in the lead to win the combined 1^st prize for the years subscription to Hove Lagoon.

This years pro youth event was again, won by Sam Latham and the Amateur youth, by Christian Body, who also came in 3^rd in the overall amateur class. Both these young lads are progressing incredibly well and increased their consistency and race craft over the weekends racing. With four out of the five events so far completed, they have gained plenty of race experience and we look forward to seeing them out on the water for another round/ round 6. So well done to both Sam and Christian,

This weekend, Hunstanton sets the scene for the 6^th out of the 8 round series for the QSW Thoman/Saverne run event. Our event is run during an awesome local beach festival with many other sports attending.

If the racing at Hove is anything to go by, the BSA at Hunstanton looks to be an awesome couple of days, with plenty of other things to keep you entertained. This is a weekend you really don’t want to miss out on.

'Onboard kids beat the Gales!'

A group of children from Sussex all gathered at Hove Lagoon on Saturday 17th July for the 2010 Onboard Festival. All of the children had learnt to sail through the RYA OnBoard scheme and were from various schools and youth groups in the local area.

Strong F5-6 wind and sun greeted the children, fortunately the hosts at Lagoon Watersports were ready and with the Lagoon being super safe and sheltered it made it a perfect spot for the racing in the strengthening winds. The afternoon of fun started with some quick games all centered around improving boat handling skills in the flash 'Bugs' kindly provided by Laser especially for the event. Once the guys had got used to the new boats it was over to Janek for some special go-faster tips and then straight into some hotly contested racing.

The first individual races were won by a triumphant Milan Trayner in his first ever race event! "That was amazing! Racing is really fun and it was great to race against other kids from the area. I was also very happy to beat my brother!"

Mark Saul Onboard Officer for West Sussex ran the event accompanied byLagoon Watersports race expert Janek Payne. Mark commented "I think Janek and I had as much fun as the kids! It was great to get on the water with them and have some fun. Massive thank you to Ian for bringing down the Bugs and well done to the kids it was super windy out there!"

The day finished with a BBQ in the sun and a prize giving where all the kids were presented with Bug goodie bags and Milan was presented with his trophy.

Adults learn to sail at Hove Lagoon for just £20

The course was a joint funded venture between Lagoon Watersports and the 'Active and Healthy Workplace Initiative'. It was one of the most popular courses the Lagoon have ever put on selling out days after the initial email promotion. The participants went from being total beginners to being able to sail a boat competently on their own picking up loads of really useful skills along the way.

Mark Saul, Manager of Hove Lagoon, commented 'We were overwhelmed by the popularity of this course! It has been a huge success and its a great opportunity for us at the Lagoon to give something back to the local business community. We feel there is a real demand for something a bit different to try and get adults active and sailing seems to be perfect! You dont have to be an athlete to sail a boat and when we push beginners out for the first time they are always on a completely level playing field.'

The Hove Lagoon T15 Event was a super busy event again this year with a few of our own budding racers out there getting involved! A massive well done to Bradley, Lucas, Tim and Patrick who all represented Lagoon Watersports in the event. Over 50 racers took part and it looked absolutely awesome! Thanks to Krafty for organising the event and and we look forward to next Year.

A big thanks to Laser for bringing a fleet of "Bugs" which where keenly raced on Hove Lagoon.

We also had a BSA slalom event here on the weekend of Paddle Round Pier, it was a massive success and looked incredible with all the racers zipping up and down in the F3-4 and sunny conditions, the event was won by an ex Lagoon Racer Matt Pearch (Pictured below)- well done Matt! read the full report here- http://ukwindsurfing.com/news/2010/0712_hove-slalom-report/

Paddle Round The Pier

We handed out hundreds of flyers over the weekend and the interest in our kids activity program was huge.

We also ran special windsurf and sailing tasters alongside Paddle and the Take Part Festival during which we were able to introduce hundreds of children and adults to the sports that we all love!

The newly introduced Neilson Sailing Regatta sponsored by Lagoon Watersports was a great success and it provided a fantastic backdrop to the event with all the Hobie Cats Blasting up and Down! A big well done to our Raft Racing Team who were one of only two teams that actually managed to get round the 'paddle something unusual' course!

Hove Lagoon Will be host to the areas Onboard Sailing Regatta this Saturday 17th JULY. We have got an afternoon of fun planned for all the kids using the Laser BUGs which have been kindly donated by Laser. The event is a Lagoon first and is open to any kids that can sail from A-B! All we ask is that they have done at least there Dinghy Stage 1. More details below-

Lagoon Watersports Raises £400 for Windsurf For Cancer Research!

The venue was packed full of excited water sports enthusiasts and by the time the first band took to the stage at 10.00 It was Emily Rae former IMCO racer and hardcore wavesailor that was first to unleash on the dance floor!

The every popular Lagoon raffle followed with plenty of happy people walking away with goodie bags bursting at the seams with oodles of merchandise kindly provided by Fanatic/North, Ocean Sports/Boardridersguide and W4CR. It was Kirk Barkers band Arnie For President that was next on the agenda with a great set of full of classic rock tunes followed by DJ Safety to finish the night with some uplifting house tunes!

A massive thank you to Alistair Carlow who jumped straight from his Zap Cat and onto his drums to play in both bands! Paul Powerboat who looked after the sound engineering for the night! Our favourite yacht skipper Johnny Dale who busted out some classic acoustic numbers to get everyone in the groove! And Portland Rock Bar for providing such a unique venue and letting us do absolutely anything we wanted with it.

Mark Saul, Lagoon Center Manager, was able to meet David Tuttlebee from W4CR on Friday to learn more about his charity. Mark said "he is an inspirational and terribly positive chap". Unfortunately he couldn't make the party due to his illness. in his absence we worked really hard to promote awareness of his charity and hope the donations keep flooding in!

It was awesome to see so many people on Saturday night all sharing the windsurf love and would like to say a massive thankyou to everyone involved.
